Obituary: Larry Glen Meador

Mr. Larry Glen Meador, age 57, of Etoile passed away suddenly Tuesday, February 5, 2013, in Angelina County.

He was born September 26, 1955, in Nacogdoches as the youngest of six children of Charles J. and Gwen Layton Meador. Larry had been a lifelong resident of the area and worked in the timber industry with Meador Logging as well as other contractors.

Larry enjoyed the outdoor life as an avid hunter and fisherman. His family was very special to him and he enjoyed fun times with family and friends. Uncle Larry will be greatly missed by all.

His survivors include brothers and sisters-in-law, Charles W. and Marsha Meador and Jerry L. and Tracey Meador, all of Melrose; sisters and brothers-in-law, Carolyn and Lane Cox of Woden and Marvis and Gary Johnson of Nacogdoches; the love of his life, Cyndi Hopson and her grandson, Chase Hopson of Huntington; aunts and uncles, Charlsie Burnaman of Chireno, Nelda and Ken Rupert of Etoile, Bonnie Mae Clark of Crosby, Harold Donald “Don” and Judy Layton of Elgin, and Grady Wayne Layton of Woden; ten nieces and nephews; and 22 great-nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Deannie Meador; nephews, Matthew Steven Meador and Michael Lane Cox; uncles, Loith H. Burnaman and Gradys Eugene Layton; and grandparents, Gradys W. and Elsie Mae Layton and Charlie C. and Vivian Meador.

Funeral services have been set for 2:30 p.m. Saturday, February 9, 2013, at Cason Monk-Metcalf Sunset Chapel, located at 5400 North Street, Nacogdoches, with Bro. Glenn D. Morton officiating. Interment will follow at Blue Springs Cemetery, located on FM 226 South in Etoile.

Visitation will be held Friday, February 8, 2013 from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm. at Cason Monk-Metcalf Sunset Chapel.

Pallbearers: Mark Meador, Jason Meador, Jacob Meador, Chester Johnson, Pat King, Jason Lowery, Cade Hopson, and David Kelley. Honorary pallbearers are nieces Jennifer Meador Hardy, Rebecca Wells, Kim Jackson, Sherri Taylor, Cindy Parmer, and Savannah Meador.
