Kenneth Franks – Candidate for State Representative, District 9
(Counties of Jasper, Nacogdoches, Sabine, San Augustine and Shelby)

     Kenneth Dwain Franks is a fifth generation Texan and fifth generation resident of this district and comes from a strong family of East Texas educators. He has had a life-long interest in history, politics and agriculture, and has teacher certification in history, with degrees from U.T. at Austin and SFA. Born in Pineland, he has lived in Sabine, Shelby, Nacogdoches, and Jasper Counties, and has worked in San Augustine for ten years. He is concerned about education and other East Texas issues. In 2006 when there was not a Democratic Candidate for state representative in District 9, Kenneth ran, saying “We cannot allow someone who took money from Tom Delay’s TRM PAC in 2002 and private school voucher supporters in 2006 to go unchallenged for the legislature,” Kenneth says. “There is also eminent domain abuse, ‘The Trans-Texas Corridor’ and toll roads, that will not be defeated if we continue to elect the people who supported them in the first place. Kenneth Franks is the education candidate and has been endorsed by the Texas American Federation of Teachers.


Reggie Cotton – Incumbent Candidate for County Commissioner, Pct. 2
(Central City and South and West County – Voting Boxes 21 Expo Center, 22/23 BQJ School, 24 TJR School, 25/26 Fredonia Hill Baptist Church, 27/28 E J Campbell Administration Bldg).

     Reggie Cotton served the City of Nacogdoches as a firefighter for 22 years before becoming County Commissioner in 2004. He has consistently worked to improve county roads in Precinct 2 and promote economic growth for the county. He is a member of the Board of Directors for the Community Health Clinic. He has helped to create a summer youth program recognized by the State of Texas for excellence. Cotton has worked to keep tax rates low compared to comparable counties, and has advocated raises for county employees. He was recognized by The Daily Sentinel as Commissioner of the Year in 2007. Cotton will continue a 2nd Chance program for offenders to encourage reentry into the work force, and will work with NEDCO and the Chamber of Commerce to create vocational trade schools which will give Nacogdoches a qualified workforce to attract new business and industry. He will work to preserve our water rights in Texas. He is President of the Commissioners, and will host the 2011 Convention in Nacogdoches.

     Reggie Cotton is the current President of the County Judge & Commissioner’s Association, and will host the 2011 Annual Conference in Nacogdoches.

     Reggie Cotton will continue to serve the people of Nacogdoches on a 24/7 basis.


Lane Bradshaw – Candidate for County Commissioner, Pct. 4
(South and East County – Voting Boxes: 41 South Loop Fire Station, 42 Oak Grove Baptist Church, 43 New Hope Methodist Church, 44 Woden ISD, 46 Chireno Methodist Church, 47 Etoile ISD, 48 Melrose Community Center, 49 Martinsvfille ISD).

     Lane Bradshaw, a fifth-generation resident, cares deeply about the quality of life in Nacogdoches, particularly for the people of Precinct 4, and he will respond to their wishes. After graduating from SFA in 1981 with a B.S. degree in agribusiness and general business, he married Gigi Neill, and they and their two children have lived in Precinct 4 for 27 years. Bradshaw will support the education of our youth to produce a growing and thriving community, and control taxes to make Nacogdoches County an affordable place for future generations. He will work to create sustainable new industries and good-paying jobs, which will produce for the county the revenue to deliver needed services. Bradshaw will provide accountability, fiscal responsibility and transparency in county government. He will work to protect our environment and natural resources, and will support strong law enforcement through the offices of the sheriff and the constable. Bradshaw will be a full time commissioner for the people of Nacogdoches.
