Obituary: Crosby Newman

Mr. Crosby Newman, age 76, of Garrison, Texas, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2012, at Westward Trails.

Graveside services are set for 1:00 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7, 2012, at Deadwood Cemetery, located on County Road 445 in the Deadwood community of Panola County. Officiating will be Eddie Brown.

Mr. Newman was born Nov. 19, 1936, in Garrison as a son of the late Ora T. Newman and Pearl (Parrott) Newman. He was a U.S. Army veteran. Crosby was an oustanding athlete in his youth and a member of the Baptist church. He had been self-employed in the construction/welding industry.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Sally Clara (Holland) Newman; a son, Richard Newman; and a borther, James Newman.

His survivors include a son, David Newman; daughter, Cindy Clark; sisters, Gladys Hartt, Marion Moore and husband Deason, and Mildred Stoddard and husband Al; sister-in-law, Martha Nell Keeling; grandchildren, Samantha Clark, Jonathan Newman, Ryan Clark, and Casey Clark; and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Arrangements are under the direction of Cason Monk-Metcalf Funeral Directors, located at 5400 North Street in Nacogdoches.
