Obituary: Ellen S. Dorsey

Ellen S. Dorsey, 86, of Nacogdoches passed away on October 26, 2012. She was born in Stamps, Arkansas on October 8, 1926 to parents Reverend Perry Franklin Squyres and Laura Nora Davis Squyres.
A committal service will take place at Oak Grove Cemetery in Nacogdoches on Wednesday, October 31, 2012 at 10:00 am.
The Witness to the Resurrection will follow at 11:00 am at Westminster Presbyterian Church with Rev. Steve Newton officiating.
Ellen loved to join in Jim’s adventurous travels around the world. She was a professional lady that knew how to balance work and play. She was an accomplished and well loved Piano teacher. She taught music and elementary school both in the U.S. and abroad. Once Ellen was determined to do something it was accomplished! She was especially fond of cooking, baking, and entertaining. Genealogy was her passion for over 5o years. She embroidered many Christmas stockings for children and grandchildren. She also made beautiful needlework she displayed in her home. Ellen’s strong religious beliefs made her joyfully anticipate seeing loved ones in heaven.
Ellen is preceded in death by her parents; son, James Mark Dorsey, loving husband, James Burk Dorsey; brother, Charles Squyres; sister, Katherine Cornell.
She is survived by her son, Richard Franklin Dorsey and wife Mary of Austin, Texas; daughter, Laura Teresa Turner and husband Stan of Nacogdoches; Sherry Dorsey, daughter-in-law; grandchildren, Nicholas Dorsey and wife Kara, Travis Dorsey and wife Sue, Sarah Burns and husband Matt, Stephanie Dorsey, Kelton Dorsey; great granddaughter, Charlee Jean Dorsey; numerous nieces and nephews, special friends Denise Brown, and David and Margie Ball.
The family will receive guests at Cason Monk-Metcalf Funeral Directors from 4-6 pm on Tuesday, October 30.
