David R. (Dave) Barringer, age 74, went to be with his Savior on Monday, July 30, 2012, in Nacogdoches, Texas, after a battle with cancer. Dave was born October 28, 1937, in Kawkawlin, Michigan to Alvin and Genevieve Barringer. Dave married his college sweetheart, Mary Lou Ann Morley, on October 1, 1960. Dave and Mary Lou lived and raised 3 daughters in Oscoda and Bay City, Michigan before moving to Fort Worth, Texas in 1982.
Dave spent his entire adult career in the automotive parts and distribution business and as owner of two auto parts stores, retiring in 2000 as Director of Marketing from WM Automotive Parts Distributor in Fort Worth. After retirement, Dave and Mary Lou moved to Nacogdoches, Texas, and purchased a large poultry farm where he grew just over one million chickens a year for Pilgrim’s Pride. In 2008 Dave sold the farm. Currently he was enjoying retirement by relaxing and traveling with Mary Lou and as an active member of First Baptist Church Nacogdoches and Treasurer for the Antique Car Club of Nacogdoches.
Dave is survived by his wife, Mary Lou Barringer; his three daughters and their husbands, Cheryl and Tom Christensen, Auburn, MI, Jim and Barbara Dolph, Virginia Beach, VA, and Lynne and Alex Orlov, Lufkin , TX; and eleven grandchildren, Lisa Christensen, Austin, Texas, James and Daniel Christensen, Auburn, MI, Ross and Cole Dolph, Virginia Beach, VA, and Dean, Oksana, Erika, Adam, Lukas and Rafe Orlov, Lufkin, TX; a sister, Ann Timm, Port Huron, MI, his mother-in-law Esther Morley, West Branch, MI; and brother and sister-in-law, Bob and Jan Morley, Les and Lynne Morley and Don Morley, MI.
Dave was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Genevieve Barringer from Atlanta, MI; an infant sister, Dora Gene Barringer; his father-in-law, Leslie Morley from West Branch, MI; and his brother-in-law, Rev. Frederick Timm from Port Huron, MI.
Services will be held on Thursday, August 2, 2012, at 4:00 pm at First Baptist Nacogdoches in the Chapel. Visitation will begin at 3:30 pm.
