Kidnapping reported, shots fired

     The Nacogdoches Police Department responded to a reported kidnapping in progress with shots fired today in the 100 block of Dutch Alley. The time on the original call was 9:18 a.m.

     The investigation revealed that a male suspect had been involved in a disturbance with a 23 year old female on Dutch Alley. During the disturbance, the male suspect fired a handgun twice at the female. No one was injured in this incident, and the suspect fled the scene on foot.

     Officers began searching the area for the suspect. At 9:34 a.m., a single gunshot was heard in the vicinity of Third Street and Orton Street. Officers located a male in a wooded area behind a residence at Third and Orton, suffering from a single gunshot wound to the head. Officers also recovered a .22 caliber handgun from the scene. The gunshot appears to be self inflicted. The man has been identified as Lamondre Moore, age 25 of Nacogdoches. Mr. Moore is the suspect in the original aggravated assault case.

     Mr. Moore was transported to Nacogdoches Memorial Hospital by ambulance where he is reported to be in extremely critical condition.
