Obituary: Howard A. “Woody” Wolfson

     Memorial service for Howard A. “Woody” Wolfson, 66, of Nacogdoches will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, July 5, 2012, at Cason Monk-Metcalf Sunset Chapel, Nacogdoches, with Rabbi Neal Katz officiating.

    Mr. Wolfson passed away June 17, 2012, at The Arbor.

    He was born April 11, 1946, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and his parents were Anna Cohen Wolfson and Arthur M. Wolfson, Cantor-Temple Emanu-El, New York City.

    Howard was a graduate of Highland Park High School in Jamaica Estates, New York. He later earned a BS from the University of Pittsburgh and a MBA from Stephen F. Austin State University.

    He had worked for AMTRAK for many years in both Philadelphia and Washington, D.C., and as Quality Assurance at TXDOT in Austin for his last ten years in the work force. He made many friends here in Nacogdoches and was known as ‘Vladimir’ on Maule in the Morning radio show.

    He was preceded in death by his mother and father, and his sister Zelda C. Wolfson.

    He was loving brother to his sister Shirley Watterston, and proud uncle of nieces Wendy Barnhill and Shari Ellsworth, and grandnieces Hannah Barnhill, Shayna Ellsworth, and Shae Ellsworth, and grandnephew Jacob Barnhill, all of Nacogdoches. He treasured his beloved dog Jenna.
