Obituary: William Byron Hollis Jr.

     Mr. William Byron Hollis Jr. is free from the earthly trials and tribulations; he has returned home to his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Mr. Hollis died from an acute coronary infarct on 10 April 2012.

     Mr. Hollis was born 5 January 1935 in Baytown, Texas, to William Byron Hollis Sr. and Mary Jane Donegan Hollis, both of which preceded him in death.

     Mr. Hollis attended public schools in both Baytown and Nacogdoches, Texas. William volunteered for duty with The United States Marine Corps in 1953 and served for four years during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged on 5 March 1957 and made his home in Nacogdoches, Texas, where he worked as a carpenter. He was a life-long member of First Methodists Church in Nacogdoches.

     Mr. Hollis is survived by one brother, Dr. Patrick Donegan Hollis of New Braunfels, Texas, one nephew, Mr. Shawn Patrick Hollis and one niece Ms. Erin Elizabeth Hollis, both of Austin, Texas. Mr. Hollis has five surviving cousins, Mrs. Phyllis Dolan of Hadlyme, CT, Mrs Florence Walton of Bellingham, WA, Mr. Robert Douglas Hollis and Mr. James Hollis of Anchorage, AK and Mrs. Linda Good of Marana, AZ.

     Interment will be Monday, 23 April 2012, at 2:30 p.m. in Oak Grove Cemetery in Nacogdoches. A private graveside service will be held at that location with Reverend Robert Tatum of Prosper, TX conducting the Methodist Church last rights ceremony.
