Obituary: Joyce Teater

     Mrs. Joyce Teater, age 87, passed away Tuesday, March 6, 2012, at Avalon Place in Kirbyville, Texas.

     Mrs. Teater was born May 19, 1924, as a daughter of the late Lonnie Burke and Ada (Feazell) Burke. A longtime resident of Nacogdoches, she was retired from Crawford Building Material. She was a charter member of the Altrusa Club and also held membership in Nacogdoches Business and Professional Women and Fredonia Hill Baptist Church.

     Her life was devoted primarily to her beloved husband. They enjoyed many activities and hobbies together throughout the years. She was a tireless worker who loved to make people smile. Her greatest tribute was raising her children and devoting her heart to help grow and mature. She will be deeply missed and admired.

     She is survived by her daughter, Debbie Freeman of Jasper, Texas; a son, Jeff Teater and wife Iris of Fort Worth, Texas; grandchildren, Jimmy Freeman and Stacey Freeman, both of Jasper, Texas, Becky Richey of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, Charlie Teater of Angleton, Texas, and Randal Teater of Nacogdoches, Texas; great-grandchildren, Abbey Richey, Robert Richey, Rose Teater, Alton Teater, Chloe Teater, and Sophia Teater; and a sister, Dorothy Burch of Maryland.

     She was preceded in death by her husband, Marion Teater; a brother, Ben Burke; and son-in-law, Jim Freeman.

     A funeral service will take place at Cason Monk-Metcalf Funeral Directors Sunset Chapel on Thursday at 10:00 am. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 5127 North St., Nacogdoches, Texas.

     Memorial donations may be offer to a hospice organization of your choice to honor both Marion and Joyce’s years of service.

     Pallbearers will be Charlie Teater, Randal Teater, Jeff Teater, Robert Ryena, Ryan Ryena, and Jimmy Freeman.
