Obituary: Carolyn Jo Thomas

     Mrs. Thomas quietly passed away on Wednesday, January 25, 2012, in Nacogdoches. She was born January 21, 1935 to parents, Richard F. Guest and Mary Jo Guest in Tyler, Texas.

     A funeral service for Carolyn Jo Thomas, will be Saturday, January 28, 2012, at 10:00 am at First United Methodist Church at 201 E. Hospital Street Nacogdoches, Texas, officiated by Dr. Bill Gandin. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park.
Carolyn is preceded in death by her parents and son, Keith F. Thomas.

     She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Richard Thomas of Nacogdoches; son, Craig Thomas and wife Leanne of Ohio, daughter-in-law, Anne Thomas of Nacogdoches; granddaughter Beth Thomas Harris and husband Matt; grandson, Richard A. Thomas and wife Jessa; great- granddaughter, Chloe Harris; great-grandson, Jude Keith Harris; sister, Barbara Dover; nieces, Carla Dover, Amy Dover Fox and husband Steve; nephew, Wade Dover and other extended family.

     Carolyn was a graduate of Stephen F. Austin State University. She spent her life inspiring children and most of her years teaching school at Fredonia Hill Baptist Church. She loved young children. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Nacogdoches and many other clubs to include, past president of the Nacogdoches Heritage Club, United Methodist Women’s Circle Club Number 7, past member of the Nacogdoches Garden Club and Methodist Alter Guild. Carolyn enjoyed her friends and hosting parties, cooking for her family, hosting Bridge Club and Christmases with her family with homemade tamales on Christmas Eve. Carolyn will be greatly missed. She had a wonderful smile and could make you feel comfortable in her presence.
Family and friends may attend visitation at Cason Monk-Metcalf Funeral Directors, 5400 North Street, Nacogdoches on Friday, January 27, 2012, from 5 pm – 7pm.

     Memorial Donations may be offered to the Keith F. Thomas Memorial Scholarship Fund, NHS Alumni Association, P.O. Box 2152, Nacogdoches, Texas 75963-2152.
