Obituary: Lindsey Kendall Monk 1924 – 2011

     Mr. Lindsey Kendall Monk, age 87, of Appleby, Texas, passed away Thursday, Dec. 22, 2011, at Lexington Place.

     Mr. Monk was born Dec. 1, 1924, in Nacogdoches County, Texas, to the late Robert Columbus Monk and Grace Lookabaugh Monk. He worked in the petroleum industry for a number years before returning to Nacogdoches County. He then enjoyed a productive career with Moore Business Forms, retiring from personnel management.

     He is survived by his sons, Robert J. Monk and wife Sandy of Houston, Texas, James Kenneth Monk and wife Mary of Bedford, Texas, William Kendall Monk and wife Angie of Atlanta, Georgia, Thomas A. Monk of Appleby, and Mark Commander and wife Patricia of Gladewater, Texas; six grandchildren; and a host of great-grandchildren.

     He was preceded in death by his father in 1933, his mother in 1992, and his wife, Barbara Ann Flanagan Monk in 2000.

     Funeral services have been set for 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2011, at Cason Monk-Metcalf Sunset Chapel, located at 5400 North Street in Nacogdoches, Texas. Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Park, located at 5127 North Street in Nacogdoches, Texas.

     Visitation will be held Monday, Dec. 26, 2011, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Cason Monk-Metcalf.

     Memorials may be made to the Salvation Army or a charity of choice.
