Mr. Walter Ray Haney, age 64, of Appleby, Texas, passed away Monday, Dec. 12, 2011, at his residence.
Mr. Haney was born May 24, 1947, in Nacogdoches County, Texas, and was a longtime Appleby area resident. He was a member of Garrison Masonic Lodge #670. Ray was a longtime coach and faithful supporter of youth softball. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed guiding.
He is survived by his wife, Beth Wallace Haney; of Appleby; his mtoher, Louise Haney of Nacogdoches, Texas; daughters, Dena Giddens and husband Gary of Appleby, Texas, Amy Soto and husband Jesse of Huffman, Texas, and Misty Pierce and husband Tracy of Dallas, Texas; grandsons, Drew Soto of Huffman, Texas, and William Giddens of Appleby, Texas; granddaughters, Josie Soto and Samantha Soto, both of Huffman, Texas; a brother, Bill Haney and wife Wanda of Appleby, Texas; and a sister, Ludie Haney Courtney and husband Leon of Kilgore, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Cindy Haney, and his father, R.B. Haney.
Funeral services are set for 3:00 p.m. Friday, Dec. 16, 2011, at Bethel Baptist Church in Appleby, Texas. Interment will follow at Bethel Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Thursday, Dec. 15, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Cason Monk-Metcalf Funeral Directors, located at 5400 North Street in Nacogdoches, Texas.
Pallbearers will be: Robbie Courtney, Jeff Haney, Keith Haney, Mike Lunsford, Chance Lunsford, and Danny Fowler.
