Obituary: Opal Lee Ray 1932 – 2011

     Opal Lee Love Ray, 79, of Nacogdoches passed away Monday, Dec. 5, 2011.

     Mrs. Ray was born June 2, 1932, in San Augustine County and had been a resident of Nacogdoches for most of her life. She was a homemaker and affiliated with the Baptist church.

     Survivors: son, Roger Ray and wife Joy of Nacogdoches; daughter-in-law, Diane Ray; sister, Edna Anderson and husband George of Aspermont, Texas; brother, Elton Love and wife Betty Carolyn of Mobile, Alabama; 10 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

     She was preceded in death by her husband, Milton Ray; son, Jimmy Ray; parents, M.S. Love and Mary Ross Love; and brothers, J.D. and Eddie Love.

     Funeral services are set for 2:00 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 8, at Cason Monk-Metcalf’s Sunset Chapel, Nacogdoches, Texas, with Bro. Sonny Scarborough officiating. Interment will follow at Black Jack Cemetery, located on County Road 350 near Chireno.

     Visitation will be held Wednesday, Dec. 7, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Cason Monk-Metcalf, Nacogdoches.

     Pallbearers: Sean McLaurin, Kenny Branton, John Ray, Terry Ray, Roger Hillard, and Rory Hassel. Honorary pallbearers: Rodney Ray and Michael Ray.

     The family wishes to thank the staff of Rock Haven Nursing Home for all of the loving care they provided.
