O’Brien elected Vice-President of Texas Downtown Association

     Officers were recently elected for the Austin-based Texas Downtown Association Board of Directors for 2012. They are as follows:

     Julie Johncox, President of JP Solutions in Fort Worth, was elected to the office of President. Sarah O’Brien, Manager of the City of Nacogdoches Main Street Program, was elected to the office of Vice President. Kate Singleton, Principal of Community Revitalization Strategies, was elected to the office of Secretary. Ned Muse, Director of Business Development with KSA Engineers, was re-elected to the office of Treasurer for a second one-year term.

     Frieda Hanley, Manager of the Decatur Main Street Program, will serve as Immediate Past President for a one year term.

     Board elections were conducted during the 2011 Texas Downtown Development and Revitalization Conference held in Nacogdoches November 1-4 that attracted over 200 downtowners from across the state to the red brick streets of Texas’ Oldest Town.

     The TDA Board of Directors is comprised of 15 members from across the state who are directly involved in a range of downtown revitalization activities. The board members include downtown professionals and managers, Main Street Managers from the Texas Main Street Program, private sector consultants, and small business owners. Two ex-officio directors represent the Texas Main Street Program.

     TDA, established in 1985, has more than 400 members from Texas downtowns who are involved in a myriad of development and revitalization activities.
