Obituary: George W. Lackey

     Mr. George W. Lackey, 72 of Nacogdoches, Texas passed away on November 5, 2011. He was born to parents, Fred and Emily Jane Lackey in Florida. After graduating high school and serving his country in the Armed Forces of the United States, he moved to West Texas and married Juanita Fisher Lackey in 1962. In 1988, he started Zesty Burgers and became owner, operator of businesses in Amarillo, Lufkin, and Nacogdoches for over 40 years.

     George had many diversified business interests over the years. He managed milk routes, pawn shops, and apartment complexes. He enjoyed collecting coins and was an avid card player, especially of Black Jack and 5 Card Draw.

     He is preceded in death by his parents and wife, Juanita.

     He is survived by his daughter Teresa Powell; grandchildren, Zachry and Cheyene Powell; and brother, Fred Lackey.

     Memorial donations may be offered to Hospice of East Texas, 4111 University Blvd., Tyler, Texas 75701. A private interment will take place at a later date.
