Obituary: James Micheal Prickett

     Mr. James Micheal “Big Mike” Prickett, 70, of Nacogdoches, Texas, passed away Sunday, Sept. 25, 2011, at his residence.

     Big Mike was born Feb. 15, 1941, in Whitney, Texas, to A.O. and Arlene (Porter) Prickett and had lived in Nacogdoches County most of his life, attending Nacogdoches High School. He retired from International Paper Company and was a dedicated member of Gravel Ridge Baptist Church. Big Mike also enjoyed the outdoors and hunting.

     Survivors include his wife of over 40 years, Freddie Prickett of Nacogdoches; step-children, Buddy and Liz Russell, Angus Russell, Bobby and Barbara Russell, Lono and Joyce Russell, and Stella and John Black, all of Nacogdoches; brother, Ardis Orville Prickett and wife Amanda of Palestine; sisters, Sandra Lynn Powell of Magnolia, Arkansas, and Linda Ann Herrera of Duncanville; and numerous step-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

     He was preceded in death by his parents; a step-daughter, Marie Manchack; and a brother, Wayne Prickett.

     Funeral services are set for 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 28, at Cason Monk-Metcalf Sunset Chapel, located at 5400 North St., Nacogdoches, with Bro. Jerry Manis and Bro. Bobby Russell Jr. officiating. Interment will follow at Procella Cemetery on County Road 659.

     Visitation will be held Tuesday, Sept. 27, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Cason Monk-Metcalf, located at 5400 North Street, Nacogdoches.
Pallbearers: Mike Russell, Jimmy Manchack, Jake Russell, Clint Russell, Charles Collins, John Russell, Wyatt Spencer, and Hayden Spencer. Honorary pallbearers will be the men of Gravel Ridge Baptist Church.
