Community invited to welcome “Best of the Road” team

The Nacogdoches community is invited to celebrate the arrival of the Best of the Road team, Gone with the Wynns, this Friday, July 1st at the Visitor Center, 200 East Main, at 5 p.m.

     The City of Nacogdoches Main Street program and the Nacogdoches Convention & Visitors Bureau are gearing up to welcome Nikki and Jason Wynn this coming Friday to Texas’ Oldest Town. Nacogdoches was selected by the judges in the “Friendliest” category in USA Today’s and Rand McNally Best of the Road competition. “Gone with the Wynns,” composed of Dallas native’s Nikki and Jason Wyhn, have 24 hours in each of the six “friendliest” towns to tour, meet the people, and discover the essence of what makes each town unique. The team departed New York on June 23rd, and will travel across the country for 21 days and end their journey in Los Angeles. Judges will announce the winning towns at the Destination Marketing Association International (DMAI) Annual Convention on July 22. The top towns will be highlighted onwww.bestoftheroad.com and in the 2013 Rand McNally Road Atlas, as well as on USA TODAY’s Travel site.

     The Nacogdoches CVB and the City of Nacogdoches Main Street Program are currently making plans to roll out the red carpet for the team upon their arrival. “We want everyone to join us to help welcome Nikki and Jason to Texas’ Friendliest Town,” said O’Brien. Plans are underway for a huge kickoff celebration to take place this Friday, July 1st beginning at 5 p.m. at the Visitor Center, 200 E. Main. “Everyone is invited, we want the entire community to come out and join us to show Nikki and Jason what we already know, that Nacogdoches is a great place to call home and an wonderful place to visit.” R&K Distributors and Auntie Pasta’s are sponsoring the event. Live Entertainment and a small ceremony will top off the evening.
