NACOGDOCHES, Texas – September 20, 2026 – On September 19, 2026, at approximately 5:06 a.m., the Nacogdoches Police Department received a report of gunshots in the 1000 block of W. Seale Street. An additional caller reported that a person had been shot at a residence in the area.
Officers responded and located an adult male deceased in the doorway of his residence. The victim has been identified as 76 year old Candelario Castaneda-Almaraz.
The Nacogdoches Police Department Criminal Investigations Division is actively investigating the shooting. At this time, no suspect has been identified.
