Obituary: Argie F. Burch

     Funeral service for Florence Argie Burch will be held Saturday, March 19, 2011, at 10:00 am at Laird Funeral Home. Her pastor, Rev. W.E. Fuller and grandson, Rev. Mike Mahaney will officiate. Visitation will be from 6-8 pm on Friday, March 18, 2011, at the funeral home.

Mrs. Burch was born September 23, 1912, in Broaddus, Texas to William Royal Miller and Florence Harvey Miller. Her mother died when she was nine days old. Her step-mother was Mary Ellis Miller. She had five half sisters and one half brother, all deceased.

     Mrs. Burch went home to be with the Lord on March 16, 2011. Argie married Joe B. Burch, July 14, 1932, in Palacious, Texas. He preceded her in death on February 20, 1974. She had three sons, Charles Burch of Pineland, Texas, Troy Burch of New Braunfels, Texas and Jerry Burch of Port Allen, Lousiana; two daughters, Janie Dean of Nacogodches and Glenda Wallace of Moss Hill, Texas; she is also survived by three daughters-in-law, Nelda Burch, Dolores Burch and Josie Burch; one son-in-law, Jerrol Wallace. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a son, Charles Burch, on July 17, 1993, son-in-law, Robert Dean, on September 30, 2010, grandson, Greg Dean, on March 20, 2008 and great-grandson, Joe Trent Carnley, March 9, 1974. She was MaMa Burch to fourteen grandchildren, thirty seven great-grandchildren and eleven great-great grandchildren.

     She was MaMa to many who loved sitting down to scrumptuous meals at her table. Argie will be remembered for her quick wit and intelligence. Also for her church work; making dolls and crafts for church bazaars, making fried pies, doughnuts, hot tamales and cooking for church dinners. She was a longtime member of Eastside United Pentecostal Church. She was a wonderul mother. Her children call her blessed. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Randy Burch, Rodney Burch, Troy Burch, Jr., Derrick Wallace, Mark Patterson, Kent Carnley, Warren Stewart, Tim Bauer, Dow Dodd and Gerald Wood. Honorary pallbearers are Greg Dean and James Sanders.
