Star-Spangled Banner Burger Cook-Off returns to Freedom Fest (July 4)

     Fire up the grill for the third annual Star-Spangled Banner Burger Cook-Off sponsored by Brookshire Brothers. Contestants have the opportunity to show off their burger-grilling skills Monday, July 4th at Brookshire Brothers’ Freedom Fest presented by metroPCS in downtown Nacogdoches. The first place winner will win a Grill Zone 4 burner gas grill plus a tank of propane, while the second place winner will receive a $100 Brookshire Brothers’ gift card.

     “We hope this year’s burger cook-off is bigger, better, and even tastier than last year’s,” said Lindsey Mathews, meeting and event coordinator for the Nacogdoches Convention and Visitors Bureau. “We cannot wait to see who can make the best burger in East Texas.”

The Star Spangled Burger Cook Off returns for a third year with great prizes to be won including a Grill Zone 4 burner gas grill and a $100 Brookshire Brothers gift card.      The Star-Spangled Banner Burger Cook-Off will be held in conjunction with Brookshire Brothers’ Freedom Fest presented by metroPCS, the annual Independence Day celebration in downtown Nacogdoches. Families can enjoy live music by Nickel Draft and Sound Stone, tasty food, and children’s activities on Monday, July 4 from 5 to 9:30 p.m. The evening will culminate in a dazzling fireworks display sponsored by the Nacogdoches Jaycees beginning 30 minutes after dark. Admission to the festival is free.

     Entry forms and complete rules can be obtained from the Nacogdoches Convention and Visitors Bureau, by visiting www.visitnacogdoches.org, or at the service desk at your local Brookshire Brothers store. Entry forms must be turned in by Friday, July 1, 2011. Entry into the contest is free. Space is limited and registration is required to participate in the burger cook-off.
