The Nacogdoches Police and Fire Departments responded to a single vehicle fatality accident Friday afternoon in the 2000 block of Old Tyler Road involving a commercial vehicle. Other motorists were on scene and had helped remove the driver from the vehicle, which was leaking diesel fuel.
The driver was deceased upon arrival.
Initial reports indicate that the truck was southbound on Old Tyler Road when it used the turn lane to pass other southbound vehicles but then veered off the roadway for unknown reasons, striking trees and then rolling over.
Precinct 2 Justice of the Peace arrived and pronounced the driver deceased.
TXDOT and a HazMat team also responded to the scene to contain the fuel spill.
The name of the deceased is being withheld until family members can be notified.
