Stephen F. Austin State University students in the Rusche College of Business learned from Texas banking, bank regulation and financial planning experts that their industry is far more about people than money at a career exploration day Nov. 6. Sponsored by SFA’s Chadwick Banking Program, the event featured one-on-one meeting opportunities with nearly 20 Texas banks and financial planning institutions as well as bank regulators from the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas and the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency. Pictured, from left, are Isaiah Smith, business economics junior from Allen, and C Welch, a certified fraud examiner and assistant deputy comptroller for midsize and community banks with the OCC. “Jobs happen through people — through contacts like these,” said David Kaiser, banking program director at SFA. “Students are meeting key members of their new banking and financial planning industry network today.” For more information, visit sfasu.edu/banking.
