August 28, 2024: Around 8:18 p.m. on August 27th, 2024 officers with the Nacogdoches Police Department responded to a major 2 vehicle accident in the 2300 block of Douglass Rd. At this time of the investigation it is believed that a black 2000 Freightliner pulling a flatbed trailer was traveling eastbound when it attempted to make a u-turn in the 2300 block of Douglass Rd failing to yield the right of way to westbound traffic. The Freightliner was struck by a 1999 Chevy pickup that was traveling westbound. The driver of the pickup sustained serious injuries and was transported by EMS. The driver of the Freightliner was not injured in the accident. The Traffic Division responded to assist in the investigation and conduct an accident reconstruction. The roadway was closed for several hours but has been reopened. At this time the driver injured in the accident is still believed to be in critical condition. As more information becomes available it will be released.
