SFA’s Friday Night Film Series to screen ‘Rainbows End’

The Stephen F. Austin State University School of Art and the Friends of the Visual Arts will present a free, one-night screening of “Rainbows End,” a 2010 documentary made by SFA filmmaking alumni Eric Heuber and Andy Cope. The screening is at 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 4, in The Cole Art Center @ The Old Opera House.

The film “follows a band of East Texas misfits as they make a run at California gold,” according to a description at imdb.com. The story is about six men, two roosters and one bus embarking on a journey to fulfill a dream. The documentary includes footage of the late famous baton-twirling Audrey Dean Leighton.

The film premiered at the Austin Film Festival and was also a selection at the Dallas International Film Festival, Cinema East, Cinema on the Bayou Film Festival and the Nacogdoches Film Festival. It contains mature language.

Hueber and Cope will be present for a question-and-answer session following the film.

The School of Art’s Friday Night Film Series is made possible in part by a grant from the Center for Applied Research and Rural Innovation at SFA. The series is also sponsored in part by filmmaking Professor William Arscott.
