(October 4, 2022): Around 9:30 p.m. on October 3, 2022 Officers with the Nacogdoches Police Department responded to a residence in the 2300 block of Elizabeth St. in reference to callers advising a family member was found deceased in the residence. Officers arrived at the scene and found an adult female victim that was deceased from injuries believed to have been caused by a stab wound. The victim has been identified to be Rose Catherine Garner, 60 years of age, from Nacogdoches, Tx. The Justice of the Peace has ordered an autopsy. The criminal investigation division responded to the scene and worked throughout the night. Investigators have already obtained a homicide warrant for the victim’s boyfriend, James Edward Harris, 60 years of age, black male, from Nacogdoches. The suspect is believed to be driving a gray Ford Expedition with Texas license plate CD3-M505. If anyone sees the suspect please do not approach him but call 911. Anyone with information about the suspects location is asked to call the Nacogdoches Police Department at 936-559-2607 or Nacogdoches Crime Stoppers at 936-560-INFO. UPDATE: THE SUSPECT WANTED IN THE HOMICIDE OF A NACOGDOCHES RESIDENT HAS BEEN APPREHENDED
(October 4, 2022): An arrest has been made in the homicide investigation that started on October 3rd in the 2300 block of Elizabeth st. Around 12:00 p.m. this afternoon the Nacogdoches Police Department received confirmation that James Edward Harris had been apprehended in Longview, Tx for the homicide of Rose Garner, a Nacogdoches resident. Currently, detectives with the NPD Criminal Investigation Division are bringing the suspect back to Nacogdoches to be held in the Nacogdoches Law Enforcement Center. As further information becomes available it will be released.
