Funeral service for Mr. Jimmy F. Tatum, 58, of Jefferson, Texas formerly of Nacogdoches will be held on Tuesday, February 15, 2011, at 7:00 pm at Laird Funeral Home with Gene Tatum and Pastor Otis Jarrel officiating. A visitation will be held from 5-7 pm prior to the service.
Jimmy graduated from Nacogdoches High School. He retired after 30 years of employment in Management at Southwestern Bell Telephone. He married Tammy Lee on May 2, 2009, at Holly Springs Baptist Church in Nacogdoches.
Jimmy loved to fish, play golf and dancing. He also like BBQ catering with his brother with the Looneyville Cookers of which they won many prestigious awards and cook offs at the Do Dat BBQ the OTT Rally and the San Augustine Sassafras Festival Cook-off. He loved his friends just as much as his family as well as his canine friend, “Buddy”. He and his wife enjoyed many stays at Padre Island. He loved life, would go out of his way to help others and make them feel special. Jimmy attended Holly Springs Baptist Church until he moved to Jefferson and was a spiritual man who loved Jesus.
Jimmy is survived by ; his wife, Tammy Lee Tatum of Jefferson; his mother and step-father, Joyce and Donald Pistole of Douglass; son, Ryan Heath of Houston; four brothers, Gene Tatum and wife, Pamela of Douglass, twin brother, Johnny Tatum and wife, Anita of Douglass, Tommy Tatum and wife, Dina of Nacogdoches and Michael Tatum and wife, Esmeralda of Chula Vista, California; sister, Sandy Ward and husband, Dwayne of Sims, North Carolina; step-brother, David Pistole and wife, Iris of Douglass; step-sister, Carol Hassell of Rusk; step-daughter, Nikki McFadin and husband, Mike of Longview; step-grandson, Cade Molidor of Longview; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family and great friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Roy Tatum.
