Obituary: Frank Sharp Tucker, Sr.

Frank Sharp Tucker, Sr.

Frank Sharp Tucker, Sr.

Welcomed to the world on March 18, 1932 to parents Dr. Stephen B. Tucker and Rosine Sharp, Frank Sharp Tucker was surrounded by a family that was like no other.

After Frank’s mother passed, Dr. Tucker married Lucile Sharp. Frank Sharp Tucker had three other siblings; Frederick Fulton Tucker, III, Stephen B. Tucker, and Anna Mary “Susie” Beall. In his early years Frank was a brave soul that many would have thought as a bit reckless, but he always knew how to have a good time. He served in the US Army and was a firefighter, dedicated to saving lives and during this time his friends had become family.

Anyone who ever had the pleasure of meeting him would tell you that he was the kind of man you could count on. When Frank finally met his match, he wed his best friend Frances Nash “Sissy” in 1959 and was happily married for 51 years. We would always joke because besides the love of his life, Sissy, there was one more love, his tractor, or should I say tractors. If Frank wasn’t sitting in his chair watching the weather, he was out playing with his tractors usually getting into trouble.

He was a family man and had four kids whom he loved dearly; Frank Sharp Tucker Jr., Rosine Watson, Amy Tucker Harris, and Dottie Tucker Molandes. He actually had a fifth child, his daughter-in-law, Danita Tucker; they had a friendship that he cherished deeply.

Frank’s life changed when he had grandkids. First, they renamed him, “O’Goat”, which he heard more than his real name! He taught them many things but one thing that was very important to him was to respect everything that life and nature gives you. He was also able to know his two great-grandchildren who he spoiled every chance he got. Now Frank wasn’t a patient man and was about as bull-headed as a man could get. But, when it came down to it, you were one lucky person to have him in your life.

As his time came, Frank was surrounded by his family, the most important thing in his life. He passed on February 10, 2011 at the age of 78 years old. We will be forever thankful that God blessed us and let him in our lives. “O’Goat” gets to the gates in Heaven and finds they need a little fixin’ and he tells God, “Well I’ve got the tool for that.”
