The City of Nacogdoches City Council has narrowed the search for a new city manager to three finalists who are slated to visit Nacogdoches next week for final interviews.
Through a months-long nationwide search facilitated by Strategic Government Resources, the Nacogdoches City Council recently selected three finalists from more than 40 applications. Finalists are scheduled for interviews and community tours March 18-20.
“I am confident we have selected the best potential candidates for our community,” Mayor Shelley Brophy said. “We are continuing our interview process with a top-tier group of finalists and look forward to making the best decision for Nacogdoches.”
Candidates include: David Ellison, Assistant City Manager in Killeen, Texas; Raymond Lee, Public Works Director from the City of Amarillo, Texas; and Ben Thatcher, Assistant City Manager for the City of Southlake, Texas.
The position of city manager has been vacant since the end of January when long-time manager Jim Jeffers retired. Rod Hogan, under contract with the same search firm handling the finalist search, was subsequently named interim city manager until a search could be completed.
