The first ever ArtFest Nacogdoches will be held on Saturday, September 21st from 11:00am to 5:00pm. Vendors will offer handmade works of art at booths on the downtown square, and downtown galleries will also be showcasing their wares and highlighting local artists. All sorts of media will be represented from jewelry to paintings to ceramics and much more. “A group of community members came together to try to fill in the gap left by the original Art Walk which used to be held downtown, says Crystal Hicks, event organizer. “We’re making some changes and inviting artists from the region to set up booths. We’ll also have music on the stage at the Visitor’s Center and crafts and activities for kids. We want the whole family to be able to enjoy the arts right in the middle of their hometown.” A community picnic will be held at Eugenia Sterne Park on Main Street at noon, with more live music under the gazebo and food from Shali’s Indian Kitchen.
