Running of the Blueberries 5K
Benefiting Dog Park Nacogdoches
Before partaking in festival treats, participants from around the state will benefit from some early morning exercise at the 5K Run/Walk presented by Pilgrim’s and held on the beautiful Lanana Creek Trail. This will be the ninth consecutive year of the Running of the Blueberries 5K benefitting Dog Park Nacogdoches. The 5K run/walk is set for June 8 at 7:30 a.m. and will begin at the Coy Simms Softball Complex. The registration fee is $30 with all proceeds benefiting the maintenance, enhancement, and possible expansion of Dog Park Nacogdoches.
Race entries are limited to the first 300 registrants. Those interested in the event can register online at www.tbf.nacogdoches.org/5k.
Bandanas are provided to all doggie participants and a prize will be awarded to the top dog. According to Kinnie Reina, event coordinator, “90.9 KSWP/91.9 KAVX is donating Family Four Packs to Schlitterbahn Galveston for the overall 1st place male and female runners. Exciting prizes will also be awarded to the 1st place male and female in the fourteen and under division.” Awards will be presented after the race according to age category.
Chip timing will be provided by FTR Race Management, of Fit Tri Run. Online registration will remain open, and kiosks will allow participants to view finishing times. LIVE results will be available online. Participants should register before May 27, to guarantee race tee shirt size and swag bag.
According to race committee chair, LaTika Lawson, “our event could not happen without our major sponsors including Pilgrim’s, Excel ER, Nacogdoches Parks and Recreation and KSWP/KAVX.” For more information visit www.TexasBlueberryFestival.com or the Running of the Blueberries 5K Facebook page.
