Microsoft Excel Classes at the Public Library
The Nacogdoches Public Library will offer a free introduction to Microsoft Excel on October 10th and October 11th. Part I will be an introduction to the menu, formula writing and formatting. Part II will feature file organization, using multiple sheets and special features. Young Adult Art Club the Public Library
Young adults age 10 to 17 are invited to attend the Young Adult Art Club at the Nacogdoches Public Library on Saturday, September 30th at 2:30 p.m. If you’re into drawing, painting, sculpting, or any art form, come join others like you to share your work, learn and practice new techniques, and just hang out with friends. We’ll discuss the next date at our meeting. There’s no registration required for this free event.

Makerspace: Pattern Making and Stitchery the Public Library
The One Book, One City celebration of True Grit kicks off with the first in a series of special maker workshops, Makerspace: Pattern Making and Stitchery on Monday, October 2nd and October 9th at 5:30pm. Get the knack of creating your own patterns from paper to create 3-dimensional designs that you can stitch from fabric. Explore making in the way they would have in the 19th century in celebration of True Grit. The program is for ages 10 and up and is free, but registration is requested. One Book, One City- Venomous Snake Identification at the Public Library
The One Book, One City book selection, True Grit, features an exciting scene involving Mattie Ross, the main character, and a pit of snakes. Ray Cole of Nacogdoches Fire Department’s Venom Response Team, will bring several varieties of snakes to teach audience members to identify friendly snakes from dangerous snakes. The Venomous Snake Identification program will be held at the Nacogdoches Public Library on Wednesday, October 4th at 5:30 pm. The program is suitable for all ages and no registration is required. One Book, One City- True Grit Roundtable at the Public Library
The One Book, One City initiative presents SFA English Professor Kenneth Untiedt and Associate Professor Kevin West for a roundtable discussion of the novel True Grit, by Charles Portis. Topics of discussion are sure to include justice, vengeance, law, and lawlessness; regional depiction; age and gender; religion; and the novel’s film adaptations and continuations. The program will be held on Friday, October 6th at 4:00 p.m. at the Nacogdoches Public Library. The program is for ages 18 years and up. One Book, One City- Oatmeal & Brown Sugar Body Scrub at the Public Library

One Book, One City- Tortillas & Migas at the Public Library
The One Book, One City celebration receives a Tex-Mex flair with the addition of a favorite breakfast meal, Migas & Tortillas. Library staff will teach participants how to make homemade flour tortillas and migas, a dish featuring scrambled eggs and corn tortillas.
