Mary Louise (Pentecost) Haney passed to her Heavenly home on August 6, 2017, at 8:37 a.m. in Nacogdoches Memorial Hospital.
Louise was born March 1, 1923, to Joseph Emanuel Pentecost and Mary Ethel (Morris) Pentecost. She had an identical twin sister, Martha Lucille (Pentecost) Williams.
Louise was preceded in death by her parents and husband of 66 years, Robert B. (RB) Haney; sisters, Wandelle Fender and Lucille Williams; son, Ray Haney; daughter-in-law, Cindy Haney; grandson-in-law, Gary Giddens; and two infant grandchildren, Angel Courtney and Bryan Haney.
She married R.B. on May 6, 1941, and they raised three children: Bill Haney, Ludie Haney Courtney, and Ray Haney. They were owners of Community Grocery in Nacogdoches and retired to their farm in Appleby.
She is survived by her children, Bill Haney and wife Wanda of Appleby; and Ludie Courtney and husband Leon of Longview.
She is also survived by her six grandchildren (her pride and joy), Robbie Courtney of Fort Worth, Dena Giddens of Appleby, Keith Haney of Longview, Wynde Morgan of New Caney, Jeff Haney of Lufkin, and Amy Soto of Huffman. These treasures surrounded her on her passing. Not only did she have 6 grandchildren that adored her, but also her 16 great-grandchildren “rise and call her blessed.”
Her surviving siblings include Laverne Mercer, Morris Pentecost, Jack Pentecost, Maury Pentecost, and Maurice Pentecost.
She was a member of Eastern Star in Nacogdoches and Bethel Baptist Church in Appleby. She enjoyed crocheting, painting, and playing bridge. It was her pleasure to gift her family and friends with one of crocheted pieces or a painting of hers.
