The City of Nacogdoches will be uniting with Stephen F. Austin State University and the Texas A&M Forest Service to host a tree care seminar, held at the Native Plant Center in the Brundrett Education Building of the SFA campus. This event will be held from 9 AM to 3 PM on August 26, 2017. This is a free workshop, but registration is required due to limited space.

The tree care seminar will be held to teach community members about the best management practices that apply to the installation and maintenance of trees and vegetation to comply with the “Development Standards Section” Ordinance for the native tree species of Nacogdoches. This workshop is open to anyone wanting to learn more about tree biology, how construction can damage trees, how to preserve trees before and during construction, and treatments to restore tree health after construction damage has occurred.

Guest speakers will be in attendance to discuss various topics about native tree care and preservation. This will include Hans Williams explaining tree biology, John Boyette discussing tree preservation before and during construction, and Zaina Gates analyzing treatments to save trees damaged by construction. Demonstrations on tree preservation and treatment will be provided by Daniel Duncum and the Bartlett Tree Service Company.

Audiences that may benefit from this information would be homeowners, business owners, tree care and landscape companies, commercial developers, and city planners. This workshop is free and will be open to the public. To register for this event, please click here!
