One killed, zero injured in a two vehicle crash on December 7 at 6:55 a.m. on State Highway 7, five miles east of Nacogdoches. Speed limit was 70 mph.
Vehicle one was a 2007 Chevrolet Aveo, the driver and deceased is Cruz Galvez-Figueroa, 22, from Nacogdoches. He died at 7:48 a.m. at the scene and was pronounced by JP 3. Body was taken to Laird’s Funeral Home. Next of kin was notified, and he was wearing a seatbelt.
Vehicle two was a 2010 Mack truck tractor, pulling a semi-trailer. The driver was Anderson Polly, 59, Center, and he was uninjured.
Vehicle one was eastbound on Highway 7 at a high rate of speed, attempted to pass in a no-passing zone striking vehicle two, which was westbound, head on.
Road and weather conditions were clear and dry. Investigated by Corporal Dale Baggett.
