NPD Investigates Fatality Accident
NPD Traffic officers were called to a major motor vehicle accident this morning at approximately 7:51 am on SE Stallings Dr, near McMichael Middle School. Officers determined that one of the drivers was deceased.
According to the investigation, Candel Cloudy, 43, of Center, was southbound in a 2003 Ford 350 van. A 2001 Dodge pickup was northbound. For unknown reasons, Cloudy’s van crossed the center turn lane and entered into the northbound lane, striking the pickup head on. The driver of the pickup was killed on impact. Two juvenile children in the pickup were taken to Memorial Hospital and are undergoing surgery. Cloudy was flown to ETMC in Tyler for further treatment.
Officers are still working on notifying family of the Dodge pickup and that driver’s name will be released at that time.
Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the accident and officers are trying to determine what might have caused Cloudy to leave her lane of travel.
SE Stallings was closed for all traffic for approximately five hours. The road is now fully open.
Nacogdoches Fire Dept and Tx DOT were also on scene throughout the investigation.
