Officers were called to a local emergency room in reference to two gunshot victims. Officers learned that at about 10:00 pm, a vehicle travelling westbound in the 1800 block of Douglass Road had been fired upon by the occupant(s) of another vehicle. Two passengers in the victim vehicle were struck by gunfire.
Preliminary investigation has indicated that the victim vehicle, driven by a male, carrying three passengers- a female and two children, ages 4 and 2 were driving westbound when they were approached by a grey passenger car, possibly a Pontiac, that was also westbound. Suspects in the grey car opened fire, striking the victim vehicle several times. A female passenger was struck by a bullet in the upper body and a four year old male passenger was struck in a lower extremity by a gunshot. The driver of the vehicle suffered a superficial wound to the arm, apparently from a gunshot. The female and the child were admitted to the hospital for treatment. The male driver did not require treatment. The two year old was not injured.
