APPLICATIONS NOW BEING ACCEPTED FOR NACOGDOCHES CVB BOARD
On December 16 the Nacogdoches City Council authorized the creation of a three member committee to conduct interviews and make recommendation to the City Council for appointments to the CVB Board of Directors. Due to the importance of the CVB Board and the unique nature in that they are the only board that manages taxpayer dollars, it was the city council’s desire to see this board carefully vetted to select individuals with the skills and knowledge needed to serve in this capacity.
The Nacogdoches CVB was established in 1996 and is responsible for marketing Nacogdoches throughout the State as a historic destination. The CVB receives 72.5% of hotel occupancy tax. As a destination marketing organization, the CVB is charged with sales for conventions, group tours, meetings and sports groups. A recent destination vision plan created for the CVB is guiding the realignment of the board and the focus of the CVB.
Interest forms for the CVB board will be accepted until Friday, January 9, 2015. For more information, or to obtain an interest form, please contact the City Secretary at 936-559-2504 or visit the city’s website at www.ci.nacogdoches.tx.us.
