SFA student photography exhibition to feature tintypes

The Stephen F. Austin State University School of Art will present an exhibition of student photography showing Nov. 3 through Jan. 10 in the Reception Hall Gallery in The Cole Art Center @ The Old Opera House.

The exhibition will include both traditional photographs and tintypes, according to Johanna Warwick, assistant professor of photography in the School of Art. The photographs are from a seven-day camping trip advanced photography students took during this past Maymester to Santa Fe, N.M.

“Every Maymester, we go camping for a week and return to school and make prints the following week,” Warwick said. “Previous trips have been to Big Bend. During the trip, we visit national parks, nearby cities and art museums and do a tintype workshop with Bostick & Sullivan (a supplier for handcrafted photography).”

All SFA art exhibitions are free and open to the public.

The Cole Art Center is located at 329 E. Main St. in downtown Nacogdoches. For information on this and other SFA exhibitions, call (936) 468-1131.
