Memorial Day is a United States holiday in honor of the members of the armed forces who have been killed in war. The Memorial Day celebration will include recognition of veterans and active duty military personnel, posting of the United States and Texas flags by the Nacogdoches Composite Squadron of Civil Air Patrol, performances by the Nacogdoches Timbertones and featured speaker Cadet Capt. Nicole Peer of Nacogdoches Composite Squadron of Civil Air Patrol. Breakfast will be available after the service.
“The annual Memorial Day observance is our way of saying ‘thank you’ to the men and women who have served and who have sacrificed,” said Aaron Welles, manager of Cason Monk-Metcalf Funeral Directors. “We hope the families who join us for the celebration gain a deeper appreciation for the importance of honoring those men and women who died in war while serving our country as well as for those who have served and are currently serving in the armed forces.”
