PRESS RELEASE
On 10-05-10 the Center Police Department Tactical Narcotics Team (TNT) working in cooperation with several different law enforcement agencies executed a narcotics search warrant targeting a large illegal narcotics supplier in Shelby County. The Center Police Department TNT began an investigation over one year ago on Jeronimo Leon, a 45 year old Hispanic male. Investigators were able to infiltrate Mr. Leon’s organization and build a narcotics and weapons trafficking case on Mr. Leon, who was a major supplier for local narcotics traffic in the City of Center.
On Tuesday 10/05/10, approximately 50 Law Enforcement Officers executed a narcotics search warrant on Mr. Leon’s compound in the Tenaha area. Found at the scene were numerous firearms, approximately two thousand dollars in cash, over a pound of methamphetamine (appx 568 grams) with a street value of over fifty six thousand dollars and a large quantity of marijuana.
Arrested at the scene was Mr. Leon and his wife, Sherry Leon. Mr. Leon and his wife have been charged with POCS Felony 1 and Possession of marijuana State Jail Felony. Federal charges (Narcotics and firearms) are pending for Mr. Leon and his wife.
The Center Police Department would like to thank the Nacogdoches County S.O. SERT Team, The Texas Rangers, DPS SWAT Team, San Augustine P.D., San Augustine County S.O., Rusk County S.O., Timpson Police Dept, Federal Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms Agency, Texas Game Warden Agency, and Constables Stanley Burgay and Fred Walker for their assistance, manpower and numerous hours of investigation in completing this operation. Their assistance is deeply appreciated.
