NACOGDOCHES – The annual bike ride will include a 7.9-mile, 26-mile, 40-mile, and 56-mile route beginning and ending in historic downtown Nacogdoches, the oldest town in Texas. The view from the riders’ bicycle seats will include historic landmarks, scenic residential areas and the beautiful rolling hills and towering pines of the East Texas countryside.
“The Tour de Nac will be a fantastic, family-oriented event offering something for everyone from the serious cyclist to the casual rider,” said Lindsey Mathews, meeting and event coordinator for the Nacogdoches Convention & Visitors Bureau.
The bike ride is set to start at 8 a.m. Saturday, November 17, in downtown Nacogdoches. Designated stops along routes will provide riders with needed rest and refreshments. Sponsors of the event this year are Chick-fil-A, Nacogdoches Oil and Gas, Regions Bank and The Bike Shop.
Fees are $30 for early registration and $35 for late registration after November 7. Only early registrants are guaranteed to receive a Tour de Nac T-shirt. Checks should be made payable to the Nine Flags Festival.
The early registration deadline is November 7 with regular registration being accepted through the day of the race. Fees are $30 for early registration; $35 for regular registration. Race-day registration will be from 6-7:30 a.m. Online registration will close at 12 p.m. on November 16. Registration forms will also be available for download at www.nineflagsfestival.com.
The Nine Flags Christmas Festival is a celebration of Texas history & culture and will be held November 17th through December 8th in Nacogdoches, located about 150 miles north of Houston via U.S. 59. Nine different flags have flown over the oldest town in Texas throughout its rich history, and this year’s festival will pay special tribute to the Spanish flag.
