On the heels of its most successful fundraiser to date, Relay For Life of Nacogdoches County will begin its 2012-13 fundraising season with a kick-off party from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 9, at the Nacogdoches Recreation Center.
Committee members will be on hand to sign up teams or survivors, purchase luminarias and answer questions, as well as introduce this year’s “superhero” theme.
Last year, Relay For Life of Nacogdoches County raised more than $135,000 for the American Cancer Society and organizers hope to keep the momentum going said Robin Johnson, event chair.
“Relay For Life is all about changing and saving lives, and so the Kick Off Party is the first step for Nacogdoches County individuals to make a difference in their community,” Johnson said
Business owners who attend would have the opportunity to learn all about Relay, as well as sponsoring the uplifting event, Johnson said.
Teams are encouraged to sign up early in order to reach their team fundraising goals before the April 27, 2013, Relay For Life event at the Nacogdoches County Expo Center. For more information about Nacogdoches County Relay For Life, visit www.relayforlife.org/nacogdochescotx.
