After a long and faithful life, Ada Naomi Nerren, 103 years, slipped away peacefullyto be with her Heavenly Father on Saturday, September 22, 2012.
A graveside service will be held Wednesday, September 26, 2012, at 2:00 pm at Sunset Memorial Park with Bishop James Nicholas officiating.
Naomi was born November 16, 1908, in Palestine, Texas, the daughter of Walter and Viola Walston Broughton. She was married 65 years to Olin Ray Nerren of Palestine and he died January 10, 1992.
She is survived by her 101 year old brother, W L. Broughton of Palestine; her daughter, Geneta Farmer and husband Tom of La Mirada, CA; son Walter Robert Nerren and wife Ann of Nacogdoches, TX.
Also surviving are granddaughters, Linda Sasser and Debbie Anthony; grandsons, Mark Nerren, Randy Nerren, Brett Nerren, Ryan Nerren, and Shawn Nerren. She is also survived by four great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
Naomi was a homemaker in the greatest sense. She was a wonderful cook whose specialties were lemon pie and peach cobbler. The grandchildren always looked forward to her peanut brittle at Christmastime.
Naomi was probably best known for her gardening. She raised beautiful flowers but especially enjoyed raking her yard. This time of the year she could be found picking up every stray leaf that fell.
Namoi was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Until a few years ago she was an active member of the church Relief Society and loved attending all their functions.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Olin Nerren; parents, Walter and Viola Broughton; sisters Iris Elizabeth Broughton and Mozelle White; brother, H.V. “Buck” Broughton; niece, Annice White Scurlock; nephew, Roy Clark Broughton; sister-in-law, Ola Bel Broughton; and brother-in-law, Bernard White.
The family wished to thank her friends Bobbie Johnson and Marsha and Robert Ault for their love and kindness to her through the years, Bless you.
We will miss this gracious, dignified lady who filled our lives with so much happiness. We will see you again.
