Obituary: Iris Faye Perry

     Mrs. Iris Faye Perry, 85, of Nacogdoches, Texas, passed away peacefully Tuesday, June 12, 2012, surrounded by her family sharing good family memories.

     Mrs. Perry was born October 17, 1926, in Irwin, North Carolina, to parents Jesse Mahoma Petty and Nelle Clyde (Sessoms) Petty.

     On January 9, 1945, she and Travis L. Perry were married in Hemphill, Texas. She was a dedicated homemaker, wife and mother who enjoyed caring for her family and friends. Iris also enjoyed her travels with her husband during his career with the U.S. Air Force. She loved tending her flower gardens, cooking, and family gatherings.

     She was an active member of Fredonia Hill Baptist Church and sang in the church’s choir for many years.

     Survivors include her daughters, Barbara Brdecka and husband Gene, Brenda Keinath and husband Mark, and Debbie Muckleroy and husband Ken; sons, Tim Perry and wife Gloria and Steve Perry and fiancé Sharon Whitmore; a brother, Kenneth Petty and wife Elenor; 16 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

     She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Travis L. Perry, in 2005; her parents; and sisters, Dorothy Foster and Bonnie Cash.

     Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, June 14, 2012, at Cason Monk-Metcalf Sunset Chapel, 5400 North Street, Nacogdoches, with Pastor Pat Kelly officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 5127 North Street, Nacogdoches.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Thursday at the chapel.

     Pallbearers: Chris Muckleroy, Michael Brdecka, Chris Fails, John Ball, Bob Stout, and Shawn Ramsey. Jeff Muckleroy will be an honorary pallbearer.

     Memorials may be made to Fredonia Hill Baptist Church Missions Program; 1711 South St., Nacogdoches, TX 75964-6152.
