States across the country will celebrate Public Service Recognition Week May 6-12 to recognize the accomplishments and contributions of public employees at all levels. In a proclamation designating the special week as Public Service Recognition Week, Mayor Van Horn notes, “These unsung heroes do the work that keeps our nation working… day in and day out they provide the diverse services demanded by the American people of their government with efficiency and integrity.”
Mayor Van Horn observes these employees dedicate their lives every day in service to our citizens and around the world in countless occupations, taking not only jobs but oaths to serve the people. Therefore, we would like the public to recognize these are workers who provide the services that touch and improve the quality of their daily lives.
The City of Nacogdoches will celebrate Employee Appreciation Day on Wednesday, May 9, 2012, to honor its employees. The celebration will take place at the Nacogdoches Recreation Center, where Mayor Roger Van Horn will award service pins to employees—some who will be recognized for 30 years of service with the City!
City Manager Jim Jeffers said, “ We are thrilled to have the opportunity to recognize our dedicated employees who work to meet the growing needs of our city and carry out their jobs with servant hearts.”
