Funeral service for Mrs. Novis Cade Blankenship, 93, of Black Jack, Texas will be held 10 AM on Saturday, 25 February 2012 at Laird Funeral Home with Bro. Paul Sevar officiating. Burial will follow at Black Jack Cemetery.
Mrs. Blankenship was born on August 24, 1918, in Nacogdoches, Texas to the late Elton and Bennie Cade. She passed away on February 21, 2012, in Nacogdoches.
Novis grew up in Nacogdoches County. She was a farmer by trade. Mrs. Blankenship loved to quilt, walk to the store and visit and call all her friends on the phone. When she had the chance she liked to play 42. She was a member of Chireno Baptist for many years as well as Attoyac Baptist Church in Black Jack, Texas and loved attending church services and listening to Gospel music on the radio.
Novis is survived by her two sons and daughter-in-law, Langston and Jan Blankenship and Winston Blankenship; one sister, Billie Fae Cade Anderson of Nacogdoches; grandchildren, Kenneth and wife Tabatha, David and wife Lesa, Cathy Myers and husband Wesley, Rachel Rowin, Donna Tubbe and husband Shane, and Cindy Jones. Great grandchildren, Dusty Blankenship, Michael Blankenship, Madeline, Tanner and Taylor Myers, Ashley Ghant, Misty and Hank Curbow, and Darius and Zoie Tubbe. and two great-grandchildren; also nieces and nephews; Miriam Cade Nichols of Beaumont, TX, Patricia Cade Nolan of Bedford, TX, and Terri Cade Verde of Beaumont, TX; and nephew, Ben Cade Anderson of Houston, TX.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Elton and Bennie Cade and her husband, George Blankenship as well as a brother, George E. Cade, Jr.
Pallbearers will be Randy Clary, Kenneth Blankenship, Hank Curbow, David Blankenship, John Bob Cody and Charro Madden.
Visitation will be held on Friday, February 24, 2012, from 6 until 8 PM at Laird Funeral Home.
