SFA art galleries closing for semester break

    The Cole Art Center @ The Old Opera House, Stephen F. Austin State University’s art gallery located in downtown Nacogdoches, will close at 5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 17, for the semester break and will reopen Tuesday, Jan. 10.

    “The Legacy of Diedrich Rulfs: Architect of Nacogdoches,” which is currently on display in the downstairs Ledbetter Gallery, will run through Saturday, Jan. 14. The exhibition features photographs taken by SFA Associate Professor of Art Christopher Talbot of homes and buildings in Nacogdoches that Rulfs designed.

    “Rastlin – A Southern Survey” is on view in the upstairs Reavley Gallery through Saturday, Jan. 21. In this photograph series, Nashville-based photographer and music video director David McClister documents small town wrestling in the South.

    The Cole Art Center is located at 329 E. Main St. in downtown Nacogdoches. Its regular hours are 12:30 to 5 p.m., Tuesday through Friday, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday.

    SFA’s Griffith Gallery, located in the Griffith Fine Arts Building, will close Friday, Dec. 16, and remain closed until Thursday, Feb. 2, when the photograph exhibition “Frank Dituri: Of Things Not Seen” opens with an artist reception at 6 p.m.
