Mr. L.B. Rogers, age 84, of Douglass, Texas, passed away Thursday, Nov. 24, 2011, at his daughter’s residence in Chambers County, Texas.
Mr. Rogers was born Jan. 26, 1927, in Douglass, Texas, as a son of George Henry Rogers and Martha Selina (Stanaland) Rogers. He was married to Carrie Nadine Miller on Aug. 9, 1947.
L.B. loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them. He also enjoyed family reunions. He also enjoyed fishing and loved his yearly fishing trip with his “kinfolk.” He retired from Evers & Son Construction, leaving a a work team that he cherished. He worked on airplanes while he served his time with the U.S. Army during World War II.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Nadine Rogers; four children, Al Rogers and Mary of Cisco, Texas, Bill Rogers and Janie of Dayton, Texas, Connie Darlene Fountain and Tommy of Dayton, Texas, and Wilburn Rogers and Tina of Dayton, Texas; brother, Shorty Rogers; sisters, Opal Hulsey, Glenda Johnson, and Eva Allen; 16 grandchildren; and a host of great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Christina Michelle Rogers.
Funeral services are set for 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2011, at Cason Monk-Metcalf’s Sunset Chapel, located at 5400 North Street in Nacogdoches, Texas, with Bro. John Murdoch officiating. Interment will follow at Douglass Cemetery, located on FM 225 in Douglass, Texas.
Visitation will be held Monday, Nov. 28, 2011, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Cason Monk-Metcalf, located at 5400 North Street in Nacogdoches.
Pallbearers will be Chad Rogers, Lonnie Dean, Willie Rogers Jr., Matthew Rogers, Roy Rogers II, and Tyler Parker.
