Mrs. Claire Grisham McCrary, 93, of Nacogdoches, Texas, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 15, at a local hospital.
Mrs. McCrary was born Aug. 30, 1918, in Jumbo, Panola County, Texas, as a daughter of Jim Lary Grisham and Clevie Mae (Keeling) Grisham. She received a BS degree in education from North Texas University in Denton and had a long distinguished career teaching school for 34 years.
She was a member of North Street Church of Christ, Nacogdoches Garden Club, Texas State Teachers Association, United Daughters of Confederacy, and Daughters of the American Revolution.
She and Robert C. “Pug” McCrary were married May 12, 1945, in Nacogdoches, Texas.
Survivors: her husband of 66 years, Robert C. “Pug” McCrary; son, Dr. Jim R. McCrary and wife Janis of Kingwood, Texas; grandchildren, Jennifer McCrary of Houston, Texas, Jessica Prosser and husband Chuck of Cleveland, Texas, Jana McCrary of Kingwood, Texas, and Jimmy McCrary and wife Amy of Beaumont, Texas; and a great-granddaughter, Ember Prosser of Cleveland, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, James Grisham.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, Nov. 18, 2011, at the Cason Monk-Metcalf Sunset Chapel, Nacogdoches, with Mr. Bill Sherrill officiating. Interment will follow at Old Shiloh Cemetery, Mount Enterprise, Texas.
Visitation will be held Thursday, Nov. 17, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Cason Monk-Metcalf Funeral Directors, Nacogdoches.
