A.L Mangham Jr. Regional Airport will host its Open House from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 12. The event will feature tethered hot air balloon rides, the Nacogdoches Aero Modeler Fall Fly-In, and a static display and flyover of commemorative air force aircraft.
A wide variety of aircraft, which are hangared at A.L. Mangham Jr. Regional Airport, will be on display, and visitors will have an opportunity to see them up close.
During the event there will be free T-shirts given away, discounted aviation fuel and a variety of food vendors. Event admission is free and open to all.
The cost for balloon rides is $10 for children and $15 for adults. Stearman airplane rides will also be available for purchase.
“This year the open house will feature an EAA Young Eagles Rally from 1 to 3 p.m. with limited free rides,” said Airport Manager Mary Uresti. “Signup begins at 8 a.m. for first-time participants, age 8 to 17.”
“We hope the public will come and share the adventure of flying with us,” said Airport Advisory Board Chair Rusty Rust. “This is a chance to view the world of pilots who fly for business or personal transportation, or just plain fun.”
Uresti said she believes the airport open house will provide a wonderful opportunity to learn more about the airport’s role in the community, as well as experience the excitement of aviation first hand.
“It’s a chance for our citizens to experience the airport and its facilities and to see aircraft up close,” she said. “We are excited to show everyone what’s available at A. L. Mangham Jr. Regional Airport.”
